A joint venture between Vinh Phuc International Industrial Park and Services JSC (VISIZ) and SHINEC JSC officially broke ground on April 9 on the Phuc Yen Industrial Zone project in Phu Tho province — one of northern Vietnam's most strategically positioned industrial corridors.

The project at a glance

The Phuc Yen Industrial Zone covers approximately 111.3 hectares in Phuc Yen Ward, Phu Tho province, with a total investment of over VND 1,988 billion (roughly USD 78 million). The operating license runs for 50 years.

According to Nguyen Hai Tung, CEO of VISIZ, the zone sits directly at the IC2 interchange of the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway and is only about 10 kilometers from Noi Bai International Airport. That kind of connectivity — highway access, proximity to a major international airport, and position along a key regional economic corridor — is what separates this project from many others at a similar investment scale.

What the infrastructure will include

The developers have committed to fully integrated technical infrastructure from day one: internal road networks, power supply systems, water supply and drainage, and a centralized wastewater treatment facility. The goal is straightforward — tenants should be able to move in and start operations without waiting on basic infrastructure to catch up.

Provincial leadership's position

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Tran Duy Dong, Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, described the Phuc Yen Industrial Zone as a priority project within the province's broader economic development strategy. He highlighted the zone's role in attracting high-quality investment — specifically targeting high-tech manufacturing, electronics, precision engineering, supporting industries, and logistics.

Beyond the investment angle, provincial leadership also pointed to the project's expected social impact: thousands of stable jobs for local workers, steady annual contributions to the state budget, and a ripple effect on commercial and urban services in Phuc Yen Ward and surrounding areas.

Dong made clear that both the investors and contractors are expected to maintain schedule, construction quality, worker safety standards, and environmental compliance. He also directed all relevant provincial departments to actively support the developer and resolve any bottlenecks that arise during implementation.

Where Phu Tho stands today

Following recent provincial mergers, Phu Tho's industrial zone network has grown considerably. As of March 20, the province has established 30 industrial zones in total: 17 are already operational, 5 are under active construction, and 8 are in the land clearance and compensation phase.

Looking ahead, the provincial government has set a concrete annual target: clear and hand over 200 to 250 hectares of land to industrial zones each year to maintain a steady pipeline of investor-ready sites. Zones currently in the land clearance pipeline include Binh Xuyen II Phase 2, Song Lo I, and Thinh Minh, in addition to several former Vinh Phuc province zones such as Nam Binh Xuyen, Tam Duong I Area 2, Ba Thien II, and Son Loi.
