Dak Lak province is fast-tracking the Trung Nguyen Legend Coffee Factory in Buon Ma Thuot to expand deep processing capacity and capture rising global demand for Vietnamese Robusta coffee. With Vietnam’s coffee exports surpassing USD 5 billion in 2024 and Buon Ma Thuot Robusta gaining strong traction in major markets, the project is positioned to unlock higher value across the supply chain.
Rising Global Demand Meets Local Processing Gap
Coffee remains a core strength of both Vietnam and Dak Lak. In 2024, Vietnam’s coffee export turnover exceeded USD 5 billion, placing it among the country’s top 10 export commodities. Notably, Buon Ma Thuot Robusta is “creating a global surge in demand,” gaining popularity in major coffee markets including Germany, Italy, China, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Indonesia.
Despite this momentum, Dak Lak currently processes only about 20% of its annual coffee output of approximately 530,000 tons from over 200,000 hectares. This gap highlights significant room for investment in deep processing to increase value-added production and meet growing global demand for processed coffee products.
Strategic Push to Accelerate Key Projects
On April 12, 2026, a provincial delegation led by Party Central Committee member and Dak Lak Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet conducted an on-site review of key projects in Buon Ma Thuot. The visit focused on resolving administrative bottlenecks and accelerating approvals in areas such as environmental licensing, fire safety, and construction.
Authorities emphasized cross-department coordination to ensure the project can break ground as planned and contribute to broader socio-economic goals.
Large-Scale, High-Tech and Sustainable Investment
The Trung Nguyen Legend Coffee Factory, located in Tan An 2 Industrial Cluster, is designed with a capacity of 1,000 kg per hour, equivalent to 7,896 tons annually. Total investment for two phases reaches VND 2,000 billion.
Built on a 50,000 m² site with a maximum construction density of 60% and over 20% allocated to green space and water features, the facility is designed as a “Net Zero” eco-industrial coffee plant. It integrates advanced technologies from Germany and Italy, combined with high automation, enabling efficient operations with a workforce of around 400 employees.
The factory’s architecture draws inspiration from three major coffee civilizations—Ottoman, Roman, and Zen—blended with local cultural elements. The site will be surrounded by greenery, lakes, herbal gardens, basalt stone landscapes, and modern solar energy systems, creating a balanced and sustainable working environment.
Construction is scheduled from Q2 2026 to Q3 2027, with operations expected to begin in Q4 2027.
Expanding the Coffee Ecosystem and Global Reach
This project marks Trung Nguyen Legend’s fifth coffee processing plant in Vietnam and its second in Buon Ma Thuot. It strengthens the company’s integrated ecosystem across green coffee, roasted coffee, and instant coffee production.
The factory supports exports to more than 100 countries and aligns with Dak Lak’s strategy to elevate its position in higher-value segments of the global coffee industry.

Trung Nguyen Legend reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing resources and meeting project timelines, targeting groundbreaking in June 2026 alongside the province’s investment promotion conference.
