Viet Nam starts construction of first domestic chip plant

On 16 Jan 2026, Viettel High Tech held a formal groundbreaking for a semiconductor chip plant in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, positioning it as a strategic step into higher value electronics. The factory is being built on a 27-hectare site, will function as national infrastructure for semiconductor research, design, testing and production.

Once operational, it will supply chips for multiple industries, including aerospace, telecommunications, the Internet of Things, automotive, medical equipment and automation.

The plant will help complete the domestic semiconductor ecosystem, enabling chip design companies, tech startups and research institutions to shorten testing cycles and accelerate product development. It will also serve as a training hub for semiconductor talent, supporting Viet Nam's goal of training 50,000 chip design engineers by 2030 and building a semiconductor workforce of 100,000 by 2040./. 

Bel Group Doubles Production Capacity at Its Vietnam Factory

Bel, the French multinational food group, announced an expansion of its manufacturing facility in Vietnam on January 15 in Ho Chi Minh City. The announcement marks a new milestone in Bel’s long-term and sustainable development strategy in Vietnam and across Asia.

According to the company’s representatives, the factory expansion involves a total investment of EUR 16.7 million. Once completed, the project will double Bel’s production and supply capacity to 20,000 tons per year, supporting the group’s ambition to further strengthen its cheese market share, which already exceeds 74% in Vietnam. This growth is driven by a strong portfolio of core products manufactured locally.

In addition, the factory’s capability to develop products tailored to regional consumer preferences provides a solid foundation for expanding exports to key markets, including Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

Google to develop, manufacture high-end smartphones in Vietnam (Nikkei Asia)

Google (GOOGL.O), opens new tab will start developing and manufacturing high-end smartphones in Vietnam this year, Nikkei Asia reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Google already has a large network of suppliers in Vietnam that assemble its products, including Pixel smartphones.

Google will begin new product introductions (NPI) for its Pixel, Pixel Pro, and Pixel Fold phones in Vietnam, with development of the lower-end Pixel A series remaining in China for now, the report said.
 

BHFLEX Vina Increases Investment to USD 310 Million in Phu Tho

The BHFLEX Vina electronic components manufacturing project, invested by South Korea–based BH Company Limited, has increased its total investment capital by USD 170 million, raising the overall investment from USD 140 million to USD 310 million.

The project is located in Khai Quang Industrial Park, Vinh Phuc Ward, with a leased land area of more than 118,000 m². BHFLEX Vina Co., Ltd. has also been certified as a high-tech enterprise by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

 

Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Renovation and Upgrade of Bac Giang Garment Factory

On the morning of January 10, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Renovation and Upgrade of Bac Giang Garment Factory project was held.

The project is located at No. 349 Giap Hai Street, Bac Giang Ward, Bac Ninh Province. It will be developed on a total area of 47,750 m², comprising Factory No. 4 with one basement level and three above-ground floors. The project is scheduled for completion by December 31, 2026.

The commencement of this renovation and upgrade project is considered an important milestone in BGG’s strategy to modernize its infrastructure and production facilities.

 

Inauguration of CHENTAI Factory (Nam Dinh)

On January 13, 2026, the inauguration ceremony for the new factory of Chentai (Nam Dinh) Co., Ltd. was held.

Chentai (Nam Dinh) Co., Ltd. is a member of Chen Tai Group (founded in 1985) from Taiwan. Chentai is a leading global manufacturer of footwear accessories and a strategic partner supplying woven and dyed webbings, elastic bands, and shoelaces to renowned sports brands such as Nike and Adidas. With strong R&D capabilities and a multinational production footprint, the company holds a solid position in the global supply chain.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for RedBoard Vietnam Factory

On January 12, 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Red Board Vietnam Factory took place.

Red Board Vietnam’s parent company is Red Board Electronics Limited, headquartered in China, with more than two decades of experience in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing, particularly products serving the automotive industry.

The project is a high-precision PCB manufacturing plant at Kim Bang I Industrial Park, with a land use area of over 98,850 m² and a total investment capital of USD 110 million. The project is designed for a production capacity of more than 260 million products per year, with completion scheduled for February 2027.

CEO Group Breaks Ground on Tien Lang Industrial Park Project

On Jan 15, CEO Group has officially commenced construction of the Tien Lang Industrial Park project. The development covers a total area of 186.49 hectares, with a total investment of nearly VND 2.8 trillion.

The project is oriented toward a next-generation industrial park model—Green, Smart, and Sustainable. Positioned as a strategic backbone within Northern Vietnam’s industrial and logistics network, the industrial park is located along the Ninh Binh – Hung Yen – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh coastal expressway, close to Nam Do Son deep-water port and adjacent to the planned Tien Lang International Airport. 

Notably, this is one of the first projects to be implemented within the Hai Phong Free Trade Zone (FTZ), marking an important milestone in the city’s industrial and trade development strategy.

On the same day, Hai Phong also broke ground on two other industrial parks

  • Tien Lang 1 Industrial Park, with a scale of nearly 600 hectares and a total investment of VND 13,061 billion, invested by Asia Pacific Sustainable Green Development Joint Stock Company.

  • Vinh Quang Industrial Park (Phase 1), located in Vinh Bao Commune and Vinh Hai Commune, Hai Phong City. The project covers an area of 226.01 hectares with a total investment of VND 3,550.804 billion, invested by IDICO Vinh Quang Joint Stock Company.

Hue Approves a 204-Hectare Industrial Park Project

The Hue City People’s Committee has approved a consortium comprising Kim Long Hue Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment One Member Co., Ltd. and Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company as the investor for the Investment, Construction, and Operation of Infrastructure for Industrial Park No. 02, located within the Chan May – Lang Co Economic Zone.

The project has a total investment capital of VND 1,845 billion, covers a land area of approximately 204 hectares, and has an operating term of 50 years.

The project is invested by Quan Chau Infrastructure Co., Ltd. (Tam My Commune) and covers a land area of nearly 30 hectares, with a total investment capital of VND 175 billion.
